How to make an 11 billion baht debt disappear

On 25 May 2019, Bhumjaitai party-list MP Weerasak Wangsuphakijkosol took office and became Deputy Commerce Minister (he’s now a Deputy Transport Minister).

According to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Deputy Minister declared his assets as followed:
Wealth, 99,662,809 million baht. Debt, 11,138,404,713 billion baht.

Of the debt, 9,636,125,937 billion baht belonged to the Deputy Minister. In comparison, 1,502,278,776 billion baht belonged to his wife, Yonlada.

On 25 January 2021, Yonloda took office as Chief Executive of the Nakorn Ratchasima Provincial Administration. She declared her assets as followed:

Wealth, 461,269,446 million baht. Of which, 248,534,489 million baht belongs to Veerasak.

Debt, 35,500,000 million baht. While the Deputy Minister has no debt.

Therefore, in the period of some two years, the Deputy Minister has become over a hundred million baht wealthier and has worked off the debt of over nine billion baht. All on a Deputy Minister’s salary.

Currently, an investigation… no, just kidding, there’s no investigation.
