Arab Spring led to terrible consequences. Euromaidan led to changes. The Hong Kong protests have been ongoing for years.
In Thailand, the PDRC (People’s Democratic Reform Committee) was the first to conduct the social media revolution in 2013-2014 that persuaded the people to hit the streets and was successful in overthrowing the Pheu Thai Government.
Today, Ratsadon’s social media revolution grips Thailand. From hashtags to memes, and Telegram, they organize, inspire, and revolutionize how we protest. From Bangkok to the provinces, students, young people, and others take to the streets.
In tonight’s episode, Dr. Surachanee Sriyai, Chulalongkorn’s Faculty of Political Science, examines Ratsadon’s social media campaign, from the good to the bad and the ugly.
