Left without any money, resources or even the ability to keep social distance, residents of the Khlong Toei slum are taking a gigantic hit from the pandemic. Many don’t have access to the internet to obtain the gov. assistance funds.

“We are lucky right now that no one in the community is displaying worrisome symptoms of COVID-19,” said Penwadi Sangchan, Director of the Duang Prateep Foundation that provides support to the low-income Khlong Toei community. “But the main problems are now to do with income, people cannot earn money so people are jobless.”
Day workers, vendors and laborers and taking a huge hit from the outbreak.
