“I miss Democracy,” read a message spotlighted onto a streetside wall in Bangkok’s Ari district.
Starting last Tuesday night, anti-government messages have been projected onto old buildings across Thailand. While some lament a political system, others more poignantly criticize the ruling regime.
“The government is the sole of our feet,” reads another message projected onto another unidentified building. In Thai culture, the bottom of one’s feet is considered lowly. Therefore, comparing someone to the sole of one’s feet means calling them the lowest part of the human body.
As of press time, there isn’t any information available about who is responsible for the messages.
The messages on the walls appear to keep changing. On Friday, Facebook Page Dudesweet posted a photo of the same wall in Ari with a different message.
On Sunday the message changed, once again, this time to reference dating application Tinder’s tagline.
